Care
Caring for your pieces.
True heritage rewards attention. Simple maintenance will keep both your AMANI fine jewelry and artisanal handicrafts beautiful for generations.
Daily habits.
Mindful placement
Put jewelry on after applying perfumes or lotions. For artifacts and sculptures, display them away from direct heat sources, radiators, and high-moisture zones.
Climate & moisture control
While solid gold tolerates water, organic fibers and premium wood grains swell or mold in humidity. Keep your baskets, masks, and woven Kente cloths in dry, well-ventilated spaces.
Shield from chemicals & light
Harsh household chemical cleaners damage fine metals, stones, and strip natural plant-based dyes from textiles. Direct sunlight can also fade traditional fabrics and crack raw wood over time.
Store and display safely
Store jewelry items individually in soft separate pouches. For structural artifacts and woven baskets, maintain their natural shape and avoid stacking heavy weights on top of them.
Rest and protect
Remove structural jewelry pieces before sleep or sports to avoid strain on settings. Dust your displayed wooden sculptures and artifacts gently with a soft microfibre brush weekly.
Cleaning at home.
For solid gold, diamonds, and hardware elements:
- 1.Fill a small bowl with warm (not hot) water.
- 2.Add a tiny drop of mild, fragrance-free organic dish soap.
- 3.Soak the jewelry piece or metal accent details for 10–15 minutes.
- 4.Brush very gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush, paying attention to the back of diamond settings.
- 5.Rinse thoroughly in clean water and pat dry with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth.
Never use liquid solutions or water on organic materials if your piece contains:
- • Hand-carved regional wood (use a dry, soft brush to remove surface dust)
- • Authentic Kente textiles & elephant grass baskets (blot gently with a damp cloth if stained, never submerge)
- • Porous soft stones like emeralds, pearls, or traditional fragile glass beadwork
If you are unsure how to handle a specific artifact stain or metal tarnish, contact us for professional consultation.
Avoid: Ultrasonic cleaners on textiles or wooden artifacts, steam cleaners, industrial ammonia, bleach, abrasive scratchy cloths, or generic chemical sprays not certified for premium organic materials.
Professional service.
We recommend coordinating with our experts for professional maintenance checks or conditioning every few seasons. This includes:
Wood conditioning
Application of natural plant waxes to preserve traditional hand-carved masks and sculptures against cracking.
Prong & structural inspection
Each fine metal setting is carefully examined under magnification for security, loose stones, or physical damage.
Fiber & handle reinforcement
评估 checking on leather wrap handles on woven baskets and structural support alignment of historical art.
Jewelry deep clean & polish
Professional polish and stone tightening to revive original solid gold mirror finishes safely.

Material-specific notes.
Hand-Carved Woods
Sustainably sourced regional hardwoods like sese, neem, or cedar. Susceptible to expanding or shrinking with extreme climate swings. Clean only with dry microfibre cloths.
Woven Kente Cloths
Hand-loomed with fine silk and organic cotton. Keep away from friction, hooks, or sharp edges that can pull strands. Professional heritage dry-clean only.
Solid 18K/22K Gold
Naturally ductile noble metals. Highly resistant to everyday elements, but can take minor surface scratches during heavy manual labor. Polish gently to restore shine.
Elephant Grass (Bolga Baskets)
Remarkably resilient natural dynamic fiber straw. If a basket becomes slightly misshapen during storage, it can be lightly sprayed with cold water, reshaped by hand, and left to air-dry completely.
Diamonds & Hard Gems
The hardest natural structures. Highly resistant to daily surface scratches but avoid storage collision with other jewelry items to prevent accidental chipping.
